The Blackledge River begins 2.5 miles southeast of Manchester, Connecticut just north of RT 534 in a gully near Converse Road. The Blackledge runs for about 16 miles until it flows into the Salmon River. A popular whitewater paddling route begins at West Road about 4 miles south of Gay City State Park. There are frequent Class I-II whitewater rapids throughout the route to the Salmon River.
