Chancing It At Chauncy
Hoping to find that big slob again (but this time with my scale in hand), I set out for Whitehall early yesterday morning. I should have known something was wrong when I got close to the boat ramp and there were three trailered bass boats close behind. When I pulled into the lot, several boats were already there, with more on their way. Turns out someone decided this was a good time for a fishing tournament on Whitehall. With the wind already presenting challenges, I decided I should put my kayak in elsewhere. After some searching, I eventually ended up at Chauncy Lake. The wind still made working the shore tricky, and damn was it cold. But I did manage to catch some decent Pickerel and little dink Bass. I'll have to try this spot earlier in the morning, or in the late afternoon.

Dink Bass Catch

- Bait Details: I worked the western shoreline for awhile, throwing around my usual rig. After feeling a few hit and runs, I eventually hooked up on a bass...that couldn't have weighed more than half a pound.

- Bait Details: All morning chain pickerel were hitting my plastic lures, but not taking any hooks. One did manage to bite my power worm in just the right spot however, and gave a nice fight. After that I threw a newly acquired Rapala Husky Jerk around, and got an even nicer pickerel in return! If anyone wants that lure, it's still there, stuck in a tree branch.
- Location Details: All of the pickerel were caught along the northern shoreline, which has some decent structure.

Best fished in the morn. Summer it gets busy later In day with pleasure craft. Some big fish in there but can be challenging it gets pounded.
