Lot of speculation at this point, Congrats to the guy if in fact it is a legitimate catch.

MAN I LOVE CONNECTICUT! Not too many better places to be a fisherman in my mind.

If this is legit, helluva season for big fish.

Great story, I hope the new record pans out for him!!

No fluke! This guy won the Striper Cup last year with 2 fish in the mid-60's (68.75lb big fish) and a third in the 50s (191lb 3 fish total
). He's a nice guy to boot!

I'd say he's got them dialed in.

How'd you like to be the runner up with a 77lb. fish???

Ugly rumor that Jack's B&T may have let their scale certification lapse. Hopefully untrue. Contacted OTW to track down story.

The latest RUMOR I heard was he did not have a license....I'm having a hard time believing that one.

Hope they are both untrue and the new record stands. Helluva catch.

Some knucklehead on another message board posted that he had no saltwater license. No license=no record. If that were true it would have come to light by now. Seems like there are a fair amount of people who don't want him to get the record. I wonder why? Rolling Eyes

Pretty ridiculous. Met Greg at StriperFest last year and chatted for a few minutes. Had no idea he was the winning angler. Seemed like a nice guy who just loves to fish. It's not by accident that he will set the new mark. This year he is leading with a 3 fish total over 199lbs. He regularly catches fish over 50lbs. I hope he gets the record, despite all the naysayers.
