Nate and I had plans to hit a pond this morning with a couple other people that might join us but the other 2 never showed.
We picked an area we hoped would be good to us, we set up in the fresh new snow which had fallen on top the 4" or so that was there already, adding a bit more work to the set up process.

Finally all set...we managed to get all of our tip-ups in with out one flag disturbing us, as a matter of fact for the next hour or hour and a half, maybe one flag I think that accounted for the one and only pickerel (rat) caught by Nate.

Decision time, at this point we think we made a mistake and we should consider moving to another lake or pond, we pull out a map of the state and discuss our options...I suggest we make a complete location adjustment from where we are and give it an hour or two. So we go through the fun of pulling up and setting up all over again.
But that was the ticket.

For the rest of the day we had steady action, flags popping, Nate had the hot hand jigging using a pimple and wax worms, he caught several bluegills a nice perch and a couple LMB's, he dropped a beauty at the hole.

We were only in 3'-4' of water.

On the tip-up's we where using heavy medium shiners for the most part.
We where catching one LMB after another, we were sending them all back to fight another day the largest for the day was a 17 incher which went back in also, then I decided that I was in the mood for a fish fry, at that point I kept a few for the table.

We ended up with about 25 LMB's for the day and several pan fish.

Was nice to be on the catching end of thing for a change.

Some pics of the day
