If your like me, and are not sure if the ice thing is for you and don't want to spend too much money, then you mite want to consider this.

I took the tops from my kids old poles, and stuck them in to dowel that I drilled. Then used wire to attach the reels on. I''m going to get hockey tape later, but with glove on, you won't even feel the wires.

Going to try them out tomarow. Very Happy

thanks Bob. Is it even worth heading out in the snow today? Wife is a bit nervous with the whole thing, so adding the snow is making it even worse.

Hey Elon...First..Great meeting you yesterday...I was too tired last night to do much typing, I made that one post and hit the bed.

The snow is fine...Most all the ice around is more than safe..but to make momma happy just go to a place that has people and stay somewhat close to them, Don't let the snow stop you it adds to the experience, not like it is going to be a blizzard.

Well my youngest and I headed out to Mansfield for a bit today. We stayed for a hour or two. Didn't get a bite, but we did have fun. I think it's time to start shopping. Very Happy We'll try it again, but this time with the proper equipment and bait. I'm glad we gave it a try.

Awesome you got out Elon...just something about fishing through a hole in the ice. Sounds like you and your son may have become a victim to hardwater fishing. It's a whole lot more fun when you are catching really well.
Congrats on making your first trip
