All,

I need your help to come up with better names for the site's Ranking system. If you go to the Help tab and scroll to the bottom, you can see all the different names/types of rankings we have. The current list is my miserable attempt to come up with something creative. Any new thoughts for the ranking names is needed ASAP.

Dave, your attempt was a great effort at a tough challenge.

Trying to come up with a fish scheme I bombed completely so far, I haven't given up yet.

I will throw this one out there just in hopes of getting things going, I will suggest the coast guard ranking system as a possibility.

I like both ideas of using the navy/coast guard rankings and also keeping it fishing related with the rankings above. What do you guys prefer? Keep if fishing related with ranks based on species for example? Or use the navy ranking system?

sheeeesh this is a tough one Dave. I myself still thinks something along the fishing theme as you originally have done, maybe just something as simple as a few name changes.

Where's everybody's 2 cents when you need it

This is a fishing site, which are notorious for having very opinionated individuals, this should have been resolved by now with all the experts we have here.

either ones good for me
.put a poll up and see what everyone else thinks.
the navy ranks would be different,most fishing sites have fish rankings

You mite want to put up a notice on the home page about the poll. I know I voted, and it looks like I'm the only one who did. I think no one knows it here.

OK, well below is a revised fish scheme for the rankings based on the list from bigoutdoors. I wanted to include a mix of freshwater and saltwater species while at the sametime go from smaller-->larger species. Please add your input for any names that should be changed or added.

Shark --> 5000 Points

Marlin --> 2500 Points

Swordfish --> 1000 Points

Striped Bass --> 500 Points

Largemouth Bass --> 250 Points

Smallmouth Bass --> 100 Points

Weakfish --> 25 Points

Baitfish --> 0 Points

My input

I think Weakfish should be pulled from the low ranking. They are a prize catch in my opinion. If included should be further up the scale.

Maybe Chain pickerel or Trout replacing weakfish, keeping a pattern of freshwater fish together then progressing to saltwater species...

OK here's a revised list:

Shark --> 5000 Points

Marlin --> 2500 Points

Swordfish --> 1000 Points

Striped Bass --> 500 Points

Largemouth Bass --> 250 Points

Smallmouth Bass --> 100 Points

Brook Trout --> 25 Points

Baitfish --> 0 Points
