Today we made our first trip of the year down to pond "X" for some carp fishing. We brang half a loaf of white bread and chummed about 3 pieces of it until we saw some action on the top of the water. Then we balled up some bread around the hook and casted out to some of the spots where we chummed. Before I know it my line goes straight and I have my first hookup of the season. But it jumped and spit the hook
. Ten minutes later the same thing happened. By the way, both of these carp were probably 2-3 pounds. Then a carp that must have been 2 feet long came about five feet from where I was standing and started eating bread, but saw me and got spooked. Big clouds of dirt. Then, finally, I get a good hookup and land the fish, my first of the season. 2-3 pounds. It's definitely a runt, but it's the first one of the season, and i'm happy about that.
