Left the dock later than usuual this morning about 6:30 and headed into fog and mist. Decided to stay close because the fog kept rolling in from further offshore.
Headed over to the rip at Two Tree Island. After about 1/2 hour of casting, I changed my drift in closer to the boulder field and picked up two stripers on flat wing Deceiver. Fish were taken in 9 feet of water on full sinking line. Decided to try the flat off the north side of the island and saw several swrls as, I rigged my 7WT.
Tossed a olive flat wing in the direction of the swirls and hooked up after 2-3 strips. Fish was about 24 inches but fought hard on the 7 wt. I was seeing more swirls so I changed up to a silver black popper. Fish pounced on the popper for the next 45 minutes or so. No big fish, but all in the 22 to 26 inch range. Fog was getting thicker, so I headed back to the dock about 9.
