We just got a new boat which will now allow us to fish bigger waters, such as the ct river. There's a boat launch 5 minutes from our house in South Windsor that we went to see that seems pretty convienient. Has anyone ever been to/used this launch and how's the fishing in this area? I imagine it would be ok since it's right across from the mouth of the Farmington.

My buddy uses that ramp occasionally, only problem is in the spring it floods pretty easily.
You can no partake in the spring striper run.
Check some of the reports from last spring under the saltwater section 'Striper reports' I know it's a little confusing being that its a river. There are a couple reports under the freshwater section as well.
There is a bunch of us here that look forward to the spring run.

It's to bad it floods in the spring, thats the best time to go fishing! Would the bissel bridge launch be ok because it's right down river from South Windsor?

The bissel will work, you also have up north a little where a few of us like to launch is at the Windsor Locks / Windsor line on the Windsor side about a mile south of the 91 bridge.
It is not a state launch, it's private, but it can be tricky as you have to launch somewhat upstream. You don't want to take a boat you are not familiar with trying that ramp for the first time.

Oh yeah, the yak is ready to go.The only thing I need to do is find some big a** bobbers suitable for fishing eels!

I prefer balloons over bobbers for bunker or eels.

Hello I missed your name, well about the launch ramp S. Windsor Ct.
This ramp is not in very good shape last time I was down there that was last year july 2009 what I would do is take a ride down there and see for yourself what shape its in now before you try to launch your boat.

You will need to be a bit more specific ED, are you fly fishing? Using a spinning or baitcasting outfit?
Cabelas has a sale going on right now, you can get a spin combo for $20

In the future you might want to start your own thread on a subject like this.
Unless someone is interested in the S windsor boat ramp they will not see your question on rods and reels, and it will keep things better organized, thanks
