Free fishing permits at reservoirs offered to jobless

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Free fishing permits are being offered by the Aquarion Water Co. at three of its area reservoirs for adults out of work.
People 18 years old and over can apply for the permits on Wednesday and again on April 28 at Aquarion's Aspetuck Environmental Center, 714 Black Rock Road, Easton. They must present official proof of unemployment, along with a valid Connecticut fishing license, to receive a permit. The free permits will be issued between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Those who are issued permits will be allowed to fish along designated shorelines of the company's Saugatuck Reservoir in Weston, Far Mill Reservoir in Shelton and West Pequonnock Reservoir in Monroe.
Permits to fish in those reservoirs usually cost $25.
"Looking for work can be a tough, full-time job," Charles V. Firlotte, Aquarion President and CEO, said in a statement. "We'd like to make it a little easier for people to relax after a day of pounding the pavement to find a new job."
For more information about the company's fishing programs and other recreational opportunities, visit www.aquarionwater.com, or call the environmental center at 203-452-3511.
