Reciived from two respected Captains confirming catches of False Albacore this morning. The first report came from Capt. Rick DiPiietro fishing off Watch Hill,RI. Capt. Rich reported his client hooked four albies on a mushmouth pattern and landed 2. Fish were found outside the reef and also seen off the beach to the east of the Light. Not bad for a novice fly angler!!!
Captain Kevin Moore sent an e-mail after docking to report false albacore caught on the outside of Little Gull. The capt. was fishing with his son and they each landed 2. They said the fish were blitzing through a large ball of anchovies. The effective fly was a hard body anchovie.
