Jacobs Pond 9/5/13

My faith in my ability to catch big fish is restored! After a lengthy period of catching nothing but small stuff (including a cute little 6 inch LMB), I finally caught a nice pair of largemouths at Jacobs Pond during lunch today. I had been a little too stubborn to change up baits recently I think. Berkley Gulp Alive worms had been great earlier this year, but I figured since the weeds are starting to thin out at Jacobs I'd give my top water Rebel Pop-R (which I hadn't used since May) a try. It was a good decision.

  • I fish there a ton in the summer.. the boat ramp is open from memorial day to labor day.. then they lock the gate.. small boats only... if you have a car topper you can put a boat in off 123 near the rocks.. there are some large fish in there.. i think my biggest was 3.74 in there.. but I caught in up the far end where you cant get to now due to weed over-growth.. there is a kayak ramp off one of the small streets with a 4 car lot, but i've never used it.

  • They had a boat ramp a few years ago. It is now gated off. Can't see why they would open it again!

  • I was fishing there this summer and started talking to a guy in a kayak and he mentioned that they plan on building a boat ramp there. Not sure how true that is. Place is so weedy tough to run anything with a prop.

  • Nice! Got to get over there soon. Haven't been there in awhile. Some nice fish in there. Weeds have come back big time!
