If you fish from the shore, the northern section of the reservoir is where you should go. The quickest way to get there is to take Cockaponsett Forest Road and park near the site D/E gate (1st) or the C/A gate (2nd).
The island's beach is home to a lot of bluegill during the spawning season. The bass I caught averaged around 11 inches.
I knock off a star for the amount of litter at the reservoir. This poses hazards such as the glass at the island (due to illegal fires).
If you go to the island, arrive before 7:00 AM to control the spot. I have great success with shallow crankbaits (LC 1.5) and the Rebel Crickhopper.
I would choose this reservoir over Cedar lake any day. |

Back side of Pattaconk is bass happy. Paddle away from dam/beach and the "party." If shore fishing, dont even take the left at the state park entrance. Follow road up to a dirt left fork. About a 1/4 mile on the left is gate to boy scout camp, rarely used. Hike the path 300 yards to a hut and shore access. I've left a ton of bass there for ya. |

a lot of people swimming. campers everywhere and lots of noise being made on shore. Clammed down around 6 pm and then loads of bugs. great place to jig with rubber worm on the shore. Caught one 3 lbs Bass. |
