So I had been in a slump for about 2 weeks, not even getting a bite. that changed on my Birthday. I took the rainy friday off from work and decided to check out Turtle Pond. Turned out to be a good move. Started with some crankbaits trying to fish out towards the middle of the pond, no luck. Put on a 3" red yamasenko and BAM! landed my first fish in weeks, and not a bad one either. I ended up destroying 3 of those worms with all the bites and action I was getting along the lily-pad edge on both sides of the pond. All in all a decent day to fish..not to mention the party later that night!

Went fishing in Hawaii...nothing to do with Massachusetts, But I am a fishermen from here so some may enjoy the story and pics. Went on Vacation to Hawaii for the 4th. Spent some time fishing from a local pier in a VERY small town. Using cut up squid as bait, I get getting my bait robbed before I could set the hook. I only managed to foul hook a crab by the leg. Better than nothing I suppose. Met a nice local who landed a small hammerhead shark right next to me. That was the craziest thing I have seen fishing. Never expected to see that coming out of the water that night. All in all I think I spent the evening feeding the fish and not catching, but with a view like that it aint so bad!

To avoid the chaos of last friday and the tragic events that followed I spent the day trout fishing at Traphole Brook in Norwood/Walpole. The brook is relatively small and the water was pretty low when I was there fishing. Tried the fly rod for a while from the bank with no luck. I fished the "deadwater" area that widens considerably and the waterflow slows down. Had a pretty succesful morning catching 2 small brown trout on small spinning gear.

Had a great day fishing out at Ashland Reservoir. Got there bright and early. Hit the water at about 6:30 AM. The bite was fast and furious from the second the line entered the water until about 10:00 AM. In total: brought 6 to the shore kept 1 for dinner, 2 threw the hook, and missed a dozen bites. Overall a successful day of fishing! I would love to go back again and have another day like this.

Spent the morning playing hooky from work. Headed to the north shore of Dug Pond in Natick. Started out at sunrise on the main sandy fishing area with not even a nibble. Moved over to "the Wall" then at 8:15 BAM two fish within 3 minutes of eachother. Then nothing more after that. Saw a few other people out there fishing from the main area. We all had the same catch for the day. Nice day to be out fishing and not working

Made it out to Houghton's Pond twice this weekend. Went Sunday morning with the wife. Had a nice morning along the waters edge, but didn't catch anything, especially trout, not even a nibble. There were people all over the shore line so spots were a hot commodity. Decided to hit it up again at dawn on Columbus day. It was beautiful on the shore watching otters playing and catching fish. Unfortunately, all I caught was some nice photos of nature and one small lmb dink. I fished a few spots around the pond all to no avail. I think it may be fished out, or I am totally inept at fishing for trout.

I have been fishing Crystal Lake in Newton on my lunch break recently. Few days ago I hooked into a nice fish, but it got wrapped up in the lily pads and snapped my line. Today was a different day. Fished along the edge of the same lily pads with a little rage tail rubber grub and got a slow lazy bite. Waited patiently for a few seconds and then set the hook. Reeled in a nice fish. Should make the rest of work today a little more tolerable!

Went out to Canton Reservoir on saturday morning aiming to catch something to redeem my pitiful fishing trip to maine a few weeks ago. Water seemed to be really low. I started on the western shore near the spillway and road. I fished along the reeds and lilly pads heading north. A few good bites but nothing hooked up. I was using Senkos - Green & red and Black. After a few hours of bites but nothing landed I decided to head back towards the spill way and fish the little area between the reeds and a small lilly pad patch. A few good chances but nothing to bring to shore. I eventually resorted to power bait on a bobber to just catch something! Got a few bluegills and then decided to make moves back home.

Went fishing in the Millinocket area. Fished the Debsconeag Deadwater and the West branch of the penobscot. Didn't catch anything worth keeping. Went there aiming for trout or salmon, but only caught creek chubs. Beautiful area up there with very scenic areas. The water was beautiful and so was the weather. I would venture further out onto Ambajejus Lake next time and try to get to the deeper water and find those trout!

Had a good day out on the southeastern shore of Houghtons pond. At first nothing was biting and I was switching between a green senko and other soft baits. I moved on and came to an area that looked like it had decent underwater stuff like trees and branches. First cast out using a small crankbait that is a deep diver got a nice hit and reeled in a decent pickerel. First one ever!
