August 9th Striper update
Capt. Ray reported last night the Striper fishing was off. A slow trip had to happen at some point. Anglers did get a handful of Stripers into the mid and upper teens and a big bunch of blue fish. Next Striper trip sets sail at 7pm Wednesday evening aboard the Lady Frances.
August 8th 7-4/Whales/PM 1/2
Capt. Rich reported an outstanding day of fishing today aboard the 7am full day jumbo boat. A modest group of anglers aboard today despite the incredible weather so good for them but everyone else missed out on one the best trip in a couple weeks. The average catch was 3 big fluke and 6 big sea bass per person today. Sure there was some variance but safe to say everyone aboard left with a nice bags of fresh fillets today. Biggest fluke was around 7 lbs. Capt. Rich looks forward to tomorrow's 7am fluke/sea bass combo aboard the Gail Frances. Capt. Don was once again pleased to report excellent sightings of Finback Whales today. Capt. Mike reported the PM half day was great tonight. A handful of big fluke, a nice bunch of sea bass, some shorts and plenty of big sea robins kept the anglers attention all evening. The weather was picture perfect and everyone enjoyed the evening. The 4-8 pm half day is tough to beat!
August 8th 8-3/ Charter
Capt. Chris reported that the charter that longtime regular customer Dave Nicoletti put together was a phenominal success. Capt. Chris and first mate Capt. Cory reported anglers had a big pile of big fluke with the largest a fine brick thick 28 inch slab that weighed just over 10 lbs caught by first time fluke fisherman Jason. Way to go Jason! Try to put your hands around that one! A dozen jumbo sea bass mixed in as well. Dave and the boys from B& L were very pleased with the results. Capt. Mike also reported a good day on the 8am full day fluke boat with a nice mess of keepers to 5 lbs and a few good sea bass mixed in. Capt. Mike looks forward to tomorrow's full day fluke trip leaving at 8am aboard the Admiral Frances.
August 8th Am Half and other updates
Capt. Don reported the anglers aboard this morning's half day trip were kept busy with an assortment of critters. The big news was first time fluke angler Debbie from Mississippi who brought a fine 8.5 lb slab to the net this morning. Way to go Debbie!! Jumbo sea bass, sea robins, short fluke and some scup kept the anglers occupied. An early report from Capt. Chris reports his full day charter is doing well with good size fluke, big sea bass and even a few whiting!! Stay tuned for a full update later! Striped Bass is sold out for tonight.
August 8 Stripers
Capt. Ray called in to report that the Striper fishing last night was outstanding once again. There were numerous limits and the Stripers were of good size, all ranging from the mid and upper teens up to the very low 30's. A good number of fish in the 20's and a handful of good size blue fish mixed in as well. Just a few spots left to be sold on tonight's Striper trip leaving at 7pm aboard the Lady Frances, next trip after that will not be until next Wednesday night the 12th.
August 7th 7-4
Capt. Rich reported excellent fishing today on the 7am full day fluke/sea bass combo. Much improved numbers of big fluke up to 7 lbs and a big pile of sea bass pleased customers today. Everyone did well with the sea bass with many anglers averaging a half dozen nice fish each and hi hooks upwards to nearly a dozen big sea bass. Many in the 3 lb range with the largest around 4.5 lbs. For the fluke some anglers did quite well catching several big keepers each and some did not. Dr.Blumer from Southington,Ct had 4 fine fluke today up to 7 lbs. Capt. Rich was very pleased with today's fishing and looks forward to tomorrow's outing leaving at 7am aboard the Gail Frances.
August 7 8-3/Am 1/2
Capt. Mike reported an excellent day of fishing on the 8am full day boat today. Anglers aboard enjoyed a good pick of jumbo sea bass throughout the day along with jumbo scup and some nice size fluke. All anglers left with a nice bunch of fillets for some fine meals to come. Hi hooks had upwards to 15 good size sea bass apiece and that fellow also had a brace of jumbo fluke as well plus a bunch of fluke that just missed the mark by a fraction! This angler used a simple tandem fluke rig with just squid and spearing to make his catch. Another angler had 10 good size sea bass and his limit of jumbo scup including several in the 2lb range, this angler was fishing with clams. Sounds like all terminal gear was effective. Some short fluke and tons of short sea bass kept anglers busy at the rails all day long! A lot of the sea bass today were in the 2.5 to 3 lb range with a few brutes up to 4 lbs and one estimated at over 5lbs that is swimming around with a six ounce bank sinker and fluke rig as the angler who hooked it tried to swing it over the rail and it busted his line!! Suffice to say some big sea bass have invaded local waters. Biggest fluke of the day just under 6 lbs. It was a gorgeous summer day on the water and Roger and Capt. Mike would like to thank longtime regular and loyal customers Barbara, Jeanne and Stefanie for their patrongae and great company today. Barbara and Jeanne have been fishing with us for over 16 years on the 8 to 3 trip! Capt. Don reported this morning's half day trip was okay. Lots of small sea critters kept anglers busy and jumbo fluke and some good size sea bass did make it aboard and into the anglers bags. Tammy's daughter Taylor was pleased with her jumbo 3.5 lb sea bass she wrangled in on the morning outing.
August 7 Stripers
Capt. Ray reported a sold out Striper crowd enjoyed a beautiful night on the water, a perfect summer evening weather wise and the Striper fishing was nothing to complain about either. Anglers wrangled to the gaffs nice size Stripers into the mid 20's and a good number of hard charging fast fighting ocean blues as well. Capt. Ray looks forward to tonight's Striper outing leaving the dock at 7pm aboard the Lady Frances. Striped Bass fishing is by prepaid reservations only, meaning if you roll the dice and don not decide to prepay you may or may not be able to get on the trip.
August 6 all other updates
Capt. Rich reported his anglers caught a mix of nice fluke and jumbo sea bass today. It was a slow drift. Capt. Rich looks forward to tomorrow's trip at 7am aboard the Gail Frances for fluke and sea bass. Capt. Don reported a great Whale Watch trip today with plenty of whales for the customers to see and calm seas. Capt. Mike reported an excellent Pm 1/2 trip this evening thanks to a big pile of good size sea bass up to 4 lbs. Some nice scup and a few jumbo fluke went into the coolers as well this evening. The 4-8 pm half day sails daily and is a great opportunity to enjoy the nicest part of the day on the water and get a bit of fishing in to boot.
August 6th Striper and 8-3

Striper slayer Matt Cox from Narragansett RI once again had the biggest fish with a fine linesider in the mid 20's. Capt. Ray looks forward to tonight's Striper trip leaving the dock at 7pm aboard the Lady Frances. Capt. Mike reported the 8am full day boat found a nice mixed bag of tasty bottom dwellers along the scenic south shore of Rhode Island today. Good size fluke, jumbo sea bass and platter size scup all went into customers bags and coolers today. Some anglers had upwards to a half dozen good size sea bass apiece today to take home with their fluke. Plenty of short fluke kept anglers busy in between as well. Next 8am trip sets sail tomorrow morning aboard the Admiral Frances with Capt. Mike at the helm
