Over the past week, striper fishing in the lower CT River has been excellent. Confirmed reports, anglers are taking numbers of stripers from 18 inches to well over 30 inches from Essex down to the Great Island area. The ebb seems to be the best tide, but fish are being caught throughout both tides.
Fly anglers report best action with herring imitations. Flies from 5 to 7 inches in lenght are best.
Bait and lure fishermen are taking fish on the usual baits and lures.
