Mercury continues talks with union

Mercury Marine and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers are continuing talks, with the hope of finishing negotiations by Monday, the company announced.
Representatives of Mercury and the union talked for about seven hours Tuesday to conclude discussions slated for that meeting. Negotiations are scheduled to continue this morning and could continue Thursday and Friday.
"Mercury is attempting to decrease underutilization of its facilities, and consolidating its operations in Fond du Lac, Wis., or Stillwater, Okla., is one possibility," the company said in a statement. "If an agreement is reached, union members would then vote on ratification. A decision by Mercury regarding its next step would be determined in part by the union's response to the tentative agreement."
Mercury Marine is a $2 billion division of Brunswick Corp.
