McDonald’s Owner/Operators for all Fairfield County McDonald’s Restaurants will be giving away one free ice cream cone to any child that redeems a special Reward Card for being “caught” doing the right thing while boating. Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection staff, participating local marine police departments and patrols, and local boating safety organizations will be on the lookout this boating season for children in Fairfield County that are wearing life jackets . Ms. Eleanor Mariani, Director of the DEP Boating Division along with Mr. Pete Porrazzo, DEP’s Boating Education Assistant at Lattin’s Cove State Boat Launch (and Safety Officer for Candlewood Lake Power Squadron) want the children to understand the importance of wearing their life jackets and following safe boating rules and regulations. The DEP Boating Division has partnered with the McDonald’s Owner/Operators of Fairfield County to accomplish this goal with the children by giving each of them who is “caught” wearing their life jacket a free McDonald’s ice cream cone. The free ice cream Reward Card is valid only in Fairfield County McDonald’s restaurants. “The DEP is very pleased to team up with McDonald’s to promote safe boating practices on the waters of Connecticut”, Mariani said. When a child redeems the Reward Card, the card will be hole-punched by a McDonald’s employee and returned to them as a souvenir of their accomplishment for following the rules. The Reward Card expires l0/l0/09.

Ronald McDonald, McDonald’s world famous clown, will be in person at Lattin’s Cove State Boat Launch located at l Forty Acre Mountain Road in Danbury, Ct. on Thursday, July 23, 2009 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. All are welcome. _________________________
