Does anyone get any real benefit (seeing fish in the water etc.) from polarized sun glasses. I wear prescription lenses and bought a pair of polarized clip-ons and they really don't seem to help much. They just make everything darker (duh). Maybe the color makes a difference?

Believe it or not, they actually make a big difference. I for one dislike bright sunlight, I get headaches from the glare, but I cant control the weather when I fish. Not only are they good for fishing they are good for driving. Anyway make sure that they are polarized some places sell them and say they are but they are not. The more money they are the better quality usually. Im happy with my 20 dollar ones from walmart or bass pro shops, they help to see in the water and reduce the glare from the sunlight, you can see a fishes silhouette 100 percent better with them. Also with the less expensive ones if you lose them it doesnt hurt as much. I lost 2 pairs this year alone. The color doesnt seem to matter as I have many pairs all in diff. colors. But I lean more towards the yellow tint.

I agree, they are a neccessity and I also prefer the yellow tint.

I have a pair from wal-mart, but they are a greyish color. Maybe that's the problem. I'll have to try the yellowish tints.
Thanks

I've lost 2 pairs of yellow tints in the last 2 years, wearing gray tint now (StrikeKing brand from wally-world) they're not bad but everything is brighter behind the yellow lenses.

My apologies Carp and Glut, I didn’t intend to make you guys (seeing how you’ve both lost a couple pair..... of glasses) targets for the OLD bamboo fishing pole geezers. I've been fortunate enough not to lose anything but a few cheap lures. And some weights. And some fish. And some self respect. Oh hell, now I feel bad. I'm going to throw my car keys in the river just to make amends. Maybe I'll tie on a lanyard first to make it easier to retrieve them, but it'll still make me feel better.

I HAVE 3 PAIR, A YELLOW,AMBER AND GRAY. THEY DEFFINATELY MAKE A DIFFERENCE. I CAN SAY FROM EXPERIENCE THAT I'VE LEFT THEM HOME WHEN I'VE GONE FISHING AND DIDN'T FEEL THE SAME AND ENDED UP LEAVIN WITHIN AN HOUR OF FISHING. IF I HAD TO CHOOSE 1 PAIR IT WOULD BE THE YELLOW ONES

I also wear prescription glass, I bought a pair of Cacoons from Cabella's they worked great they cover more of your eyes and they cut the glare real well. Bad news I lost them.

Finally, some really useful information, but thanks to all for the feedback. I'm sure there is more to come considering my "OLD bamboo fishing pole geezers" comment earlier. Especialy since I am probably about the same age as those "OLD bamboo fishing pole geezers" I did it again!

Seeing that tbob is so sensitive about his age I'm surprised he hasn't fired back at you pramsey, and whomever else you may be referring to, probably Big O or Lund Runner Wink

There is useful information in most post, it is hidden amongst the banter, you just need to sift it out
