Another banner day for the Manchester crew!Hit R.H. area again for Day 2 this morning.Six nice keepers to 35.5 inches and several just short of 28.The livewell was full by 10:30.Stopped home to re-fresh ourselves and then went North "between the bridges" from 2 til 4.Picked up just one shortie.Let me know Lunger if you would like me to put you on some fish.

Okay guys here's the scoop. The stripers are in the river full force.Lung believes this is the peak right now and I believe he's right. TBob,his son and I hit it real hard the last couple of days and I can't see any way the fishing can get any better than it is RIGHT NOW! In all honesty, the last couple of days has been some of the best fishing I have ever encountered. I'm talking about catching large,hard-fighting fish steadily over a two day period. We boated fish of 35 1/2,34 1/2,34,33 and numerous 30,29 and 28 inchers! The first day was over-cast,rainy and windy and we had some flurries of real fast action,I'm talking double headers, fish jumping practically into the boat trying to get the bait at the last second and the whole nine yards. The second day was a bluebird sky with no wind to speak of until the afternoon and there was no fast action but a very steady pick of LARGE fish throughout the whole day, that is until we pulled the boat and headed up north, didn't do well up there. I'm of the opinion that keeper striper can be found on just about any stretch of the river at this moment so get out there. If you don't come across blitzing schools of fish, which we didn't yesterday, the trick is to keep moving because the fish are moving and that's what we did.As much as I don't like to admit it,TBob DID put us on some fish (don't want your head to get too big Bud!) I'd say the majority of fish came on eels, followed by tube-n-worm and then artificials. Also the tube-n-worm proved to be pretty effective in the river,Tbob's idea as well, had my doubts but he was right and now I'm a believer in that tactic as well.In closing I would like to Thank Mr. Tucker and son for having me aboard for what proved to be some of the most memorable fishing I've ever had. I'm also planning on trying to get out as soon as I can on the yak so I can do battle with one of those big girls from more of a toe to toe stand point. I'll probaby end up getting towed to OLD LYME so I might be giving one of you guys a call to come pick me up! Wink

Very nice report.
Think I'll take Carp's advice and get up to the cove and out into the river Friday morning. Looks like a decent morning to forget about work.

Well, I have been looking through this site for some time now, but these posts about fishing in the Connecticut River for Stripers has forced me to become a member. Carp13, that is an impressive post both for the pictures and your description of the action on the river. For someone who looks at the site, I appreciate the tips you have listed.

We have been fishing for a few years, but are still pretty much novices. We did go out on the River last weekend and pretty much got bupkis. We are going to try the tips you have on your post and give it another shot this weekend, if the weather holds out…

But, I have two questions, we are planning on going out Saturday morning, not real early, would it make a difference if we went out at Rocky Hill or Haddam Boat Launch? Also, I assume with the tube-n-lure you are trolling, same thing with the eels?

Again, any info would be appreciated.

Thanks
